The project “Exchange knowledge for future innovation” is aiming in revisiting an old problem – namely the gap between the companies and organizations - the world of work - and its needs and requirements for educated people and the education world with their study programs and curricula, under a new perspective. The effective closing of this gap can be served by merging the two worlds with innovative ICT applications. The principal application will be the innovative Map & Match web-based Platform for the enhancement of learning in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).
Context/background: The CCI is evolving further with structural changes. The subsectors: media, visual communication, print and publishing, arts, design, advertising, gaming, film/photography, internet and (up to a certain degree) packaging are changing rapidly and the educational material: research and learning material is most times following.
Objectives: The present project indents to investigate innovative approaches for scanning needs and requirements for knowledge, skills and competences of the CCI and matching them with the suitable existing research and learning material based on learning outcomes. Main objective is to create an Exchange platform, to facilitate innovative learning and research material, to map the competence needs (user) and match these needs with the suitable learning/research module(s). The web based platform & applications run on the platform. The Exchange platform can be applied for the project target groups: VET&HE’s, SME’s, entrepreneurs, sector organizations, social partners in the CCI.
It will operate as a set of ICT-applications (IO’s): a database of existing learning and research material (from various sources) will be created by uploading educational material to an Exchange platform(O1). The uploading will be supported by the Intake application(O2) where the learning and research material will be described and meet certain educational standards and formats in order to pass the entrance requirements. Also a value of the uploaded material will be determinate according to the Barter system. The Search robot (O4) makes it possible for the user to map the competence needs and match these needs with the suitable learning/research module(s). The download of the material uses the Barter system purchase application (O3). The barter system is a system of exchange where goods are directly exchanged for other goods without using a medium of exchange, such as money. In the project we develop the criteria under which the upload and download takes place and according to which the value of the uploaded materials is determined and the value at which value materials can be downloaded. Barter will be working with a kind of credit system.
During testing we will use the research on developments and new competences and developed learning material (on 5 subsector of the CCI) of a running Erasmus+ project (Thrive!) to test the ICT applications. Also a research will be done to map existing material with the potential to upload.
The Platform as a transparent database of existing learning material makes it possible to cover the existing and new demands for education in the CCI. By the use of material in more schools, companies, countries improvement of the material (also for the uploader), lower cost, not reinventing the wheel, learning material in the own language (translations) etc. are the big benefits. Impact: The project outcomes and in particular the establishment of the platform with its applications can have a significant positive impact for a wide range of stakeholders in the CCI such as teachers and students from VET and HE institutes, curricula developers at educational organisations, entrepreneurs, companies and sector organizations in the CCI.
The project outcomes can also be beneficial directly at sector level at regional, national, European and international establishments and organisations in terms of expanding the Exchange platform and its applications for further sectors, where the need for new competences should be matched with the learning process by an innovative way. Potential longer term benefits: The Exchange Platform can be used in the long term by more countries and the respective education organizations, companies and entrepreneurs. It can be expanded for serving other sectors. Once established, the Platform can be further developed as a solid basis for the improvement of competences of the human capital. It can also further be used to standardize learning outcomes so that they can be applied for the restructuring of curricula both for VETs and HEs and for various blended learning activities.
